You’re ready to move to Italy and live here year-round. Or… you’re worried you’d miss people, your house, or something else about the country you’re coming from. You have options!
Ciao! I’m Debbie. I’ve been living on the Italian island of Sardinia since 2018. Check out my Move Abroad Coaching and other services at ItalianInpat.com.
Moving abroad doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
There’s a whole spectrum of options between “I’ll stay in Italy a few months each year,” and, “I sold everything and never looked back.”
It starts with the question: where is home? If it’s Italy (already or soon), then you probably want to spend most or all of the year here. If home is still another country, a place you would miss or don’t really want to leave, then it might not make sense to sell everything and move to Italy full-time.
There are many paths depending on your life, your family, your finances, and what home means to you. What you’re running from (if anything), and what you’re running toward.
Some people want a clean break. A fresh start. Others want to maintain roots in two places, and that’s totally valid.
The key is making a conscious choice rather than assuming there’s only one way to do it.
Before you talk yourself out of a dream because it seems too big, ask yourself: “what’s the smallest version of this that I could try first?” Maybe you start with longer visits to Italy, 90 days here and there (visas permitting), renting a property, to see if daily life feels like the upgrade you’re looking for. You don’t have to rush into buying anything.
Contact me if there’s anything I can do to help think it through. The first call is always free. Ci vediamo!
